Water quality

To find the best suited filter type, we must know the origin and quality of the filtered water. A household water study conducted by a water laboratory or our water analysis and test filtration can help you with that.
Our Fe filtration series conserves and even improves the freshness of tap water as it uses oxygen from the air instead of any chemicals.

Filtered water retains its coolness as the water capacity is small and the filtration process does not have to be enhanced with a water heating pump. The machines remove iron and manganese as well as hydrogen sulfide and aggressive carbonic acid and, to an extent, humus. Special filters also remove other impurities, such as radon or salt.

The operation of the Fe series filters is based on natural filtration. Impurities are sedimented into a special mass of burned natural rock material. The amount of washing water required by WatMan filters is low.

IX series

The operation of the IX series is based on ion exchange and it enables the removal of lime, iron, manganese, humus and uranium.
The harms caused by hardness can be permanently prevented by installing a water softener filter IX to the water line. The treated water is soft and it no longer clogs your water equipment. In addition to the hardness, the machine can remove dissolved iron and manganese. The same machinery can also be used for filtering out uranium in water.

MLF series

The MLF series machines can be used for removing several kinds of impurities. The filter's filler substances are chosen according to the kinds of impurities that are to be removed at a given time.
The operation of the machine is based on a series of subsequent filtrations and washes. The washes maintain the continuous operation capacity of the equipment. The mass is changed as required, usually once every few years.

RnAI series

The RnAI series aeration equipment is suitable for the removal of radon, hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Overall, radon (including that occurring in indoor air) causes approximately 200 cases of lung cancer annually.
Being a gaseous substance, radon can be easily removed through effective aeration. Air that contains radon is directed outdoors in a controlled manner with a fan. A radon aerator is installed right after the bore well pump. The machine's own control centre regulates the whole water treatment system and makes it completely automatic.

RnH and RnAH  series

The RnH and RnAH series machines make another suitable option for radon removal. The RnAH model is equipped with counter-current washing automation. The activated carbon is especially well suited for removing small or medium-sized  radon deposits. In the automated models, the RnAH mass can be rinsed to remove sedimented impurities, such as rust. This option is not available in the RnH models.

Osmosis is a natural phenomenon. If two liquid solutions, one salty and one saltless, are separated from each other with a semipermeable membrane, the saltless solution strives to dilute the salty solution until the salt content is even on both sides of the membrane. A pressure difference, i.e. osmotic pressure, is formed between the solutions. For water cleaning purposes, this phenomenon should be reversed.
When a salt-containing liquid is applied with outside pressure greater than the natural osmotic pressure, the osmosis can be reversed. With pressure and the semipermeable membrane, water can therefore be cleaned. This phenomenon is called reverse osmosis. The water filtered through the membrane is cleaned water, ‘permeate’. The impure part of the water that does not penetrate the membrane is rejected and flushed to the sewer. The rejection takes away over 90% of the impurities in raw water.

The equipment is installed either in the technical facility of the household or a sink cabinet. The capacity of smaller machinery is around ten litres a day, which is sufficient for covering all cooking and drinking water. The smallest of the machines is equipped with its own tap. The largest ones are typically equipped with a clean water storage tank and a separate pressure accumulator.

The RO series machinery removes salt, chloride, arsenic, fluoride, uranium and nitrates, to name a few. In the Finnish conditions, salt is found abundantly in coastal areas, in particular. Excess salt is harmful to health and it rusts water equipment as well as shortens their working life.
The negative effects of both nitrate and fluoride are greatest to children, but adults should also avoid these compounds.

C-sarja

The machines of the C series, the FeAC series and some of the MLF machinery are suitable for water alkalisation, i.e. raising the pH levels of water. Water has to be alkalised when copper or other metal tubes start showing signs of corrosion.
The investment and operation costs are minimal compared to the advantages gained; at its lowest, the investment may take a few hundred euros. Considering the entire lifetime, this may mean as little as 10–15 euros per year. The machine is installed before the pressure tank.

Detached houses
Estimate the water consumption

Water consumption in a detached house is typically less than 20 l/min. The smallest WatMan filters are adequate for cleaning the water of one or even two households. Thanks to their small size, the machinery can even be installed in tight places.

Automation
WatMan filters are automated, which makes them as easy to use as possible. We deliver also deliver hand-operated machine options.

Chemicals
The Fe series filters require no chemicals. The operation of the IX series filters is based on ion exchange and it can be revived automatically with table salt (NaCI).

The overall filter cost
The acquisition price of WatMan filters is affordable. The installation costs are as low as around one hundred euros due to the simplicity of the machine. In many cases, you can even install the machine yourself. The equipment requires no continuous maintenance; checking and adding the mass is easy.

Guarantees
WatMan grants a quality guarantee for filtered water according to Decisions 401/2001 and 461/2001 by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. An additional 1–3-year mechanical guarantee is also granted and the right to refund naturally applies as stipulated in the consumer protection law.

Other things to consider
WatMan filters can be installed in any space as long as the space does not freeze and it features a sewer. We assemble all machines from components with an appropriate price-quality ratio. We tailor the components ourselves from scratch. The RnH series activated carbon filters must not be assembled closer than 3–5 meters away from living space. Alternatively, the machines can be assembled next to a well or be insulated with radiation protection.
